Whether hollow tubes or shafts or other cylindrical components - our CNC lathes can produce any turned part, sometimes at more than 1,000 revolutions per minute.
Manufacturing process CNC turning
At WIEDMANN, we manufacture high-precision CNC turned components of all kinds. We use all available CNC turning processes for this purpose:
- Cross turning
- Transverse turning
- Longitudinal turning
- Longitudinal circular turning
- Longitudinal cut-off turning
- Peel-turning
- Cross-round turning
- Wide-finish turning
MADE IN GERMANY: All turned parts are manufactured 100% in our workshops in Germany: From cutting the raw parts to length to turning and surface finishing - all manufacturing processes are carried out in-house.
For perfect precision: To ensure minimum dimensional tolerances and first-class product quality, we rely on the highest quality tools, modern CNC lathes and, above all, on our specialist staff - our CNC experts.

Advantages of CNC turning
- Precision – highest component precision with exceptional accuracy possible
- High speed – efficient processing through Computerized Numerical Control (CNC production)
- Flexibility – quick adaptability, e.g. during the development phase
- Fast reproducibility & automation
- Automation: economical production process independent of batch size
- Wide range of materials – almost all metals and plastics can be processed
Range of applications for CNC turning
Many industrial sectors use CNC-machined turned components. At WIEDMANN, for example, we manufacture spreading shafts, deflection rollers, guide rails, pump elements, prisms, components for automatic gluing machines, stainless steel parts for cold exchangers, components for navigation systems, satellites, packaging systems, dairy plants, robot systems and much much more...
CNC turning enables the economically efficient and high-precision production of turned components. To achieve optimum results, we rely on many years of expertise and an extensive range of CNC lathes.

More information on CNC turning
CNC turning is a very precise and efficient method for manufacturing industrial components. But how does CNC turning actually work? Which materials can be processed using CNC turning? And what does CNC turning cost?
How does CNC turning work ?
Like CNC milling and CNC grinding, CNC turning is a material-removing process (machining). In principle, CNC turning is the opposite of 3D printing. In 3D printing, material is applied – in CNC turning, on the other hand, material is removed. The raw part is firmly clamped in the CNC lathe and rotated to the required speed. The turning chisel is then carefully guided onto the rotating blank to remove material.
The abbreviation CNC stands for Computerized Numerical Control. Using a computer and coordinate-supported CNC software, the design data of the component (dimensions) is transferred directly to the CNC machine for production. This enables the most precise production in the μm range.
Which materials can be CNC turned ?
The following materials can be processed using CNC turning: all types of steel, all types of cast iron, aluminum, copper alloys such as copper, brass and bronze as well as various plastics.
- Steel: z.B. ST52-3 (1.0570), C45 (1.0503), 42CrMo4V (1.7225), 1.7131 (16MnCr5)
- Stainless steel: z.B. 1.4021, 1.4028, 1.4034. 1.4305, 1.4401
- Tooling steel: z.B. 1.2311, 1.2343, 1.2344, 1.2379
- Aluminum: z.B. 3.1325 (EN AW-2017), 3.1645 (EN AW-2007), 3.2315 (EN AW-6082)
- Cu alloys: Copper, bronze, brass
- Casting types: GG, GGG
- Plastics: z.B. PVC, POM, Peek, Teflon
What does CNC turning cost ?
Simple CNC turned components can be manufactured for as little as EUR 30. However, the price must be calculated individually for each CNC turning project. The cost per part depends on: Starting material, component size, geometry complexity, machine hours, design specification such as surface roughness, tolerance options and ultimately the production volume.
We will be happy to calculate your cnc turning component.
